What You’ll Be Doing:
 
  • Oversee and manage areas including accounting, taxation, internal controls, cost management, accounts payable, management reporting, and regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare accurate financial statements and reports in line with IFRS/GAAP standards, incorporating adjustments for crypto-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate and lead interactions with auditors and regulatory authorities to ensure clear financial reporting and meet statutory audit obligations.
  • Contribute to business development by providing financial forecasts and ROI analyses.
  • Drive initiatives to streamline financial processes, implement automation, and enhance efficiency in areas such as transaction processing, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Establish a monthly close process for the local entity and integrate it with the consolidated group close.
  • Adapt the group’s cost management system for localised needs and requirements.
  • Develop Finance Policies and ICAAP frameworks focused on financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Act as a functional leader in navigating regulatory requirements with the MFSA.
  • Keep current with evolving financial reporting standards and tax obligations in Malta.
  • Assist in setting up the local banking infrastructure.
  • Manage the day-to-day financial operations.
 
What We Look For In You:
  • CPA Qualified, Bachelor’s degree in finance or similar
  • Over 6 years of relevant experience in financial services or the crypto industry, specializing in derivatives, futures, options, and perpetual instruments
  • In-depth knowledge of MiFID regulations and compliance requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS mandatory; and tax regulations
  • Self-starting problem solver, able to self-identify and execute new tasks as they emerge, and solve problems proactively to full completion without significant direction
  • Clear and effective communication skills are critical
  • Understanding of the cost management framework and how to connect it with a systematic AP process
  • The skillset to work within the demands of a fast-paced startup environment
  • Outstanding attention to detail
