We are seeking an exceptional Senior Engineering Manger to co-manage our Platform Engineering Group (PEG). This role will help oversee critical subteams including Consensus, Cryptography, Avalanche Go, HyperSDK, Virtual Machines, Storage (Firewood), Interoperability, and Primitives. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in blockchain technology and distributed systems, coupled with proven leadership and management experience.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Co-manage and mentor a team of highly skilled engineers on the Platform Engineering Group (PEG) across multiple specialized subteams
- Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to define and execute the roadmap
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure blockchain solutions
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables across multiple complex workstreams
- Manage OKRs/KPIs, and develop strategies and standards for excellence
- Interface and collaborate with Senior Executives and the C-Suite ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive organizational change where necessary
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in blockchain technology and distributed systems
- Contribute to the broader blockchain community through technical talks and thought leadership
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Deep understanding of blockchain technology, consensus mechanisms, and cryptography
- Strong background in distributed systems and peer-to-peer networks
- Proven track record of leading and growing high-performing engineering teams
- Experience with Golang and/or Rust programming languages
- Solid understanding of software development best practices, including CI/CD, testing, and code review processes
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex technical challenges
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Avalanche or other high-performance blockchain platforms
- Contributions to open-source blockchain projects
- Knowledge of interoperability protocols and cross-chain communication
- Familiarity with blockchain storage solutions and optimizations
- Understanding of zero-knowledge proofs and other advanced cryptographic techniques
- Experience with EVMs and blockchain SDKs
Salary Range: $253,479 to $346,556
